DAY 19
managed to get the filming done, for both the host and for the guests. by the grace of God at the last minute we managed to get a camera from mallory's group, cause apparently they were done with filming their parts. wow. so how did we film both parts? we used two cameras to shoot the scenes, one a extreme wide shot taking both the guests and host, that will be used to join the footages together, and the other a medium shot of the host and later a medium long shot of the guests, which is us. when we borrowed our own camera, we found a tape from the previous owners still inside, so now its OURS!!! MUAHAHAHAHA!!! actually it's just mine, since the others are all going into animation, although jake did say something about wanting to go into video. ah well.
ANYWAYS, back to the shooting. we did the whole thing twice over, once with the host (jake, with his hair styled to a gravity-defying extreme) talking to empty chairs on one side, and a second time, with angie, andrea, jake, now normal, and i talking to one empty chair. afterwards we repeated some scenes for the guests, but this time not as a group shot but a close up. ending it all, we did the shot where we all enter into the talkshow together.
also, i have to say, our lighting is quite good! haha, we spent quite a while fiddling around with the lights we borrowed, which consisted of two
two words. fruitful day.

DAY 17
well, we did filming today. not good. there were many problems, and after discussion, we decided that we cannot use any of the current footages, due to a number of problems.
1. we were trying to upload it to a school computer, but it was very slow, and in the end, it didnt even get half way through before the computer ran out of space.
2. our reactions were too fake, our dialogues too long. many redundant lines inside, which eat into our 2 minutes.
so we came together, discussed, and decided to redo everything. but this time we decided we're gonna do something mroe to our video. "lights". yes, we're gonna borrow lights. muahaha, just hope we can get it right though. tom, our senior, gave us a crash course into lighting basics, and i think, we actually can pull it off. hooray for seniors.

Day 10 to 16
forgot to update the journal. anyways since day 9 there has been quite a lot of progress in our group.
we found out that "MadHouse" is already used by another company, so we're not sure whether or not to keep using it. but that's not important.
we managed to get the furniture that we needed, 3 couches, one small table, television, and 2 high chairs. andrea somehow managed to convince vaani to lend us the furniture, and now all we have to do is take care of it until it's time to return it.
we also had a dry run of the whole video, and we managed to identify potential problems to be rectified, like some scripts being too long, and camera placement. afterwards we just had to go back and finalize the scripts and we're ready to go.
however, the "ever reliable and friendly" guys at the video equipment store told us that we can't borrow 3 cameras. i mean, yea, sure we found out that we could give up one camera, but we definitely NEED 2 cameras in order to let everything go smoothly, we can't just film everything 3 times over, it won't be exact. filming it twice is already a gamble, and so we really need the 2 cameras. ronald please do something about it!
so, interim assessment on day 15, i think we did a good job with it. now jsut gotta finish the timeline and stuff.
ok, here's the lowdown on what we're doing, just realised i haven't given much information on the project.
we're doing a talkshow. jake will be the host, and andrea, angie, jake (yes, jake again) and i will be the guests. we're gonna talk about our life so far in MOI, what kinda things we've learnt and our experiences in year 1.
how are we gonna have two jakes? answer: we're gonna clone him we're gonna film it twice, one with jake in the frame, the other with all the guests in the frame, and join the images together in AfterEffects. also we will use different cameras to film a) a wide shot of everyone, where the cloning effect will be used, b) one camera on the host, and c) one camera on all the guests. if there are individual responses, we're gonna zoom in with AfterEffects, since there is no one on the camera to help us zoom. so now you see why we need 2 cameras at least?
today we have to hand in the scripts, timelines, storyboards and all other things related which may have slipped my mind. afterwards jake and i will go to the tv studio, probably to set up the furniture. studio filming should wrapped up by this week, unless we really screw up, which i;m praying that we won't.

Days 5-9
i think someone got into my account, cause when i logged in there was only this post which previously only said "HELLO RONALD HOW ARE YOU" or something like that. should be careful to log off next time.
anyways, i think i have quite alot to blog about. from day 5 till now, which is day 9. but basically it's quite easy to summarise waht happened. we basically came up with new ideas, and two main ideas came up which we thought were possible, one being an informal talkshow and the other being a borat-style documentary. pitched our ideas to the class on day 6 and asked for a vote, most of them recommended that we do the talkshow, although there was one interesting suggestion to combine them both.
didn't do anything over the CNY break, and from day 7 till today we managed to come up with a group name (MADHOUSE), and thought of the animation for the starting. we also reckied the school for good places to shoot, and we found a few, except that none were "perfect". we needed sofas, and the only place we found is the lecturers' lounge, although i don't think some lecturers will be happy with us going in, since we even had trouble getting into the place to check it out.
my personal favourite place would be the room in front of the gallery, i THINK it's called the lights and sound room or something. the others prefer the tv studio though. so now, we're working on the script and decided the places for other parts of our video. and, that's it :)

Day 4
abit late for this post, but it's ok, i have a good memory.
we re-discussed about our ideas for the whole project. there was abit of conflict and confusion, but it was nothing serious. in the end, while jake and angiewent for their afternoon class, andrea and i were left discussing about the project. we came up with quite a few creative ideas, like doing a heroes parody, a crime mystery thing, and even a kind of recruitment video for MOI that makes us out as some kinda rebelor terrorist in a world where being in MOI is a crime, stuff like that. got pretty excited about our ideas and shared it with the other two when they came back. discussed more, and ended the day feeling like we accomplished something. however...
the next day, andrea and i met alfie in the 3d lab, and we pitched our ideas to him, and i think we went about te whole thing the wrong way. disappointing, but we started to brainstorm for more ideas. after that, i left and the other three went to the design orientation training camp, so no further planning was made until now. realised that we're actually moving quite slowly. sad.
